About
Solace
More informed, and less connected. This has become one of the defining characteristics of our media-drunk, relationship-starved generation. Young and old, rich and poor, faithful and faithless, red and yellow, black and white – every single person, whether they acknowledge it or not, is yearning to satisfy their intrinsic need for connection to each other and to the Spirit of God. Yet in our quick click, on-demand culture, true connection is often the casualty of our addiction to go go go. Left untended, our relationships can run a mile wide and an inch deep, and our connection with our heavenly Father is no different. We soon discover that knowing about God is quicker than knowing God. Doing God’s work is easier to control than being God’s child. This truth might punch our ego right in the face, but the Lord is not impressed by a busy calendar chalked full of important meetings and projects. God is more thrilled by you than by what you do. Every Christ-follower, from the stay-at-home parent to the mega-church pastor, needs this reminder – Stop. Breathe. Connect to the Spirit.
This is why Solace exists. Solace Renewal Ministry is a resource for the Church to draw kingdom leaders to the Lord for repair, refit, and renewal. When we encounter the Lord, He may offer us comfort or conviction, assurance or humility. However He chooses to respond, a genuine encounter with the Lord is good and trustworthy. This encounter is how Solace defines renewal.
Renewal by encountering god
Peace is a matter of identity. We can only live in true peace when we acknowledge who God is, who we are, and our relationship with Him. More than just an intellectual acknowledgement, this peace must be a foundational state of being that informs our every thought and movement. Our understanding of God, ourselves, and our relationship to Him requires constant nurturing and reflection. In other words, we continually need to take focused time to be reminded that God is an awesome kind of love, and He accepts us as sons and daughters.
Only when we live in true peace can we perpetually fulfill our God-given Purpose. God not only calls us to Himself as His children, He also invites each of us to work alongside Him in His mission to redeem the earth. (Ephesians 2:10) The redemptive purposes He has for us are as varied as the parts of the body. Yet every person's purpose is ordained by the Lord as an integral function of the body of Christ. When our work is a free-flowing response to our love for our Lord, that's when we begin to live in true passion.
Passion is the fuel that propels the abundant life. It's why we do what we do, and it's how we persist in doing it. A deep-seated, God-given passion is more than our emotional outlook. This kind of passion is vital to thriving in our mission. When our passion runs dry, our work becomes hollow and exasperating. Like every other part of our being (body, soul, mind, and spirit), our passion needs to be nurtured and directed. We need times of reexamination. We occasionally need to refuel. It is critical that we protect times and places to reflect on our calling in order to continue in the passionate life that we each desire.
We believe that “peace, purpose, and passion” aptly describe the abundant life that Christ desires for his followers. (John 10:10)
